Description

Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week, 1:6 patient ratio, every other weekend required

Highlights:

  • Specialized neuroscience unit caring primarily for stroke patients, plus epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, subdural hematomas, and neurosurgical cases
  • Contract lengths available for 13-26 weeks
  • Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication management
  • Comprehensive 36-hour orientation program
  • Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Daily census of approximately 50 patients across 55 beds

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, including at least 1 year of direct Medical/Surgical experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required (must have completed at least 2 successful contracts)
  • Current BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and NIHSS certifications required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • North Carolina or Compact state RN license
  • Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
  • Medical/Surgical neuro experience strongly preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Willingness to float to other Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units as needed
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
