48-HOUR NIGHT-SHIFT MS/TELE TRANSPLANT RN CONTRACT – UW HEALTH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel contract opening for an experienced Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in surgical care in Madison, Wisconsin. Operating within the dedicated 32-bed Transplant Surgery Unit (B4/6) at UW Health University Hospital—Wisconsin's #1 Magnet®-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center—this high-earning position features an approved 4x12 overnight schedule (19:00 PM - 07:30 AM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

  • Weekly Gross: $3,190.00
  • Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,526.00
  • Hourly W2 Rate: $32.00/hr (40 regular hours)
  • Overtime Rate: $48.00/hr (8 weekly OT hours included)

SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 4x12-Hours (19:00 PM - 07:30 AM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Block scheduling is not offered.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 total hours weekly (40 regular hours + 8 overtime hours).
  • Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend (EOW) rotation and shared holiday coverage.
  • On-Call Requirements:NO CALL REQUIRED!
  • Unit Acuity & Ratios: 32-bed specialized unit maintained at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts.
  • Clinical Scope & Specialty Care: Dedicated inpatient surgical floor serving one of the nation’s premier organ transplant programs. Care covers kidney transplants, live-donor kidney, pancreas, liver, live-donor liver, auto-renal transplants, and medical management of post-transplant complications/rejections.
  • Procedures & Skills: On-unit and remote continuous telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, surgical drain care, Wound Vacs, central line blood draws, PICC maintenance, blood product administration, pre/post-hemodialysis management, and IV insulin protocols.
  • EMR System: Epic EMR (hard requirement, recent experience within past 12 months preferred).
  • Floating Scope: Travelers float to like acute care units as clinically needed.

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated acute care MS/Tele or surgical inpatient RN experience completed within the last 3 years. First-time travelers accepted!
  • Licensure: Active Wisconsin RN License or Compact/NLC Multistate License strictly required in hand at submittal.
  • Certifications Required: * American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) — AHA only.
  • Pre-Start Telemetry Exam: Must pass facility rhythm interpretation exam prior to start clearance:
    • 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms (V-Fib, V-Tach, Asystole).
    • Zero errors on 3rd-degree heart blocks.
    • Minimum overall passing score of 80%.
  • Radius Rule: Permanent tax home must be outside 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted).

Local Exclusion: 50-mile permanent residence radius strictly enforced. Submittal Rules & Compliance: Active WI or Compact RN license must be attached at submittal.
