TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Montgomery, Alabama.

MedSurg Float Pool RN — Assignment Details

 

Requirements

  • At least 18 months of MedSurg experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • BLS and NIHSS
  • Strong assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills
  • Skills appropriate to assigned units, including trach care, chest tubes, PEG/NG tubes, ostomies, wound VACs, drains, IV starts and central line care
  • Trauma Surgical assignments require at least 1 year of trauma experience

Patient care and floating

  • Units: Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Clinical Decision, Orthopedics and MedSurg/Ortho/Urology
  • Patients: General and vascular surgery, stroke/TBI, post-op neuro and spine, oncology, withdrawal, behavioral health, medical observation, joint replacements and urology
  • Ratios: Generally 1:5–6; MedSurg/Ortho/Urology may use team nursing with 1 RN and 1 LPN caring for 8 patients
  • Floating: Like units and patient populations, including MedSurg holds in the ER and task support in ICU
  • Charting: Cerner
  • Equipment: Omnicell, Plum 360 pumps and Spacelabs monitors
