Job Summary:

The Clinical Resource Unit (Float pool) is committed to a Nursing Professional Practice Model, emphasizing caring relationships with patients, families, community, and colleagues to deliver exceptional care. This unit provides specialized medical and nursing care across various inpatient units, including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and constantly evolving, with highly-trained staff utilizing the latest technology and equipment to manage diverse medical diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, strokes, cancer, and post-surgical care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations.
  • Experience managing care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Proficiency in developing, implementing, and modifying patient care plans.
  • Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects.
  • Experience preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care.
  • Competence in IV venipuncture and blood administration.
  • Ability to document care accurately using EMR.
  • Capability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in professional development of peers.
  • Skill in conflict management and maintaining professional communication with team members.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess patient status and take appropriate action.
  • Effective collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Prioritization of patient safety and adherence to safety standards, including fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Ability to complete bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.
  • Delegation skills with appropriate follow-up.
