Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse to join our team. This position focuses on providing high-quality patient care in an inpatient setting. Experience in oncology is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate nursing care to oncology patients.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and implement appropriate care plans.
  • Administer medications and therapies as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient conditions and report any changes to the medical team.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (Cerner).

Schedule Information

This role offers a flexible schedule, with options for either 3x12 or 4x12 shifts during the night, including weekdays and every other weekend. Block scheduling is available.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in oncology or medical-surgical units.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; ONS chemotherapy/bio certification is preferred.
  • Skills in initiating IV therapy.

Patient Care Ratios

The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:5-6, ensuring a supportive and manageable care environment.

Additional Information

Scrubs are provided, and candidates are expected to wear burgundy and/or white attire. This is a contract position with a length of 13 weeks or longer, with opportunities for extension.

Please note that the facility emphasizes attendance, with a maximum tolerance for 2-3 call-offs during the contract period.
