Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients, specifically in medical-surgical and surgical oncology settings, while collaborating with inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Shift Details

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• 36 guaranteed hours per week

Unit Information

This position is based in a 47-bed medical surgical unit, where the nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 during the day shift and 6:1 during the night shift. Nurses may float to other medical-surgical units as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience in a large hospital (200 beds or larger) or a level 2 trauma center
• Experience with surgical oncology patients preferred, but not required
• BLS certification (AHA) is required
• Active ND or Compact RN License; please specify the state in your application
• EPIC electronic medical record experience is required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will:

• Provide care for medical-surgical and surgical oncology patients.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate nursing competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise.
• Utilize age and population-specific standards in patient care.

Training and Orientation

• One day of centralized training
• Two 12-hour shifts on the unit with a preceptor for hands-on training

• Philips monitors
• Telemetry equipment
