Med Ninjas is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Urbana, Illinois.
Job Summary (List Format):
- Assume responsibility for a group of patients during a designated time frame
- Provide patient care using the nursing process, current trends, and technology
- Manage nursing care within the institution’s philosophy and available resources
- Perform all unit-specific duties within the scope of service
- Implement procedures and nursing theories relevant to the area of practice
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Implement and modify care plans based on continuous patient evaluation
- Ensure patient and staff safety by reporting and addressing hazards/incidents
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with peers for professional development
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue self-directed education
- Meet all departmental competency requirements
- Receive and give Bedside Shift Reports, incorporating patient input and ensuring a safe environment
- Delegate and supervise patient care tasks to healthcare technicians (HCTs)
- Document and perform RN care activities (assessments, vital signs, medication administration, education, etc.)
- Adhere to documentation standards for Med/Surg nursing
- Administer medications using the “5 Rights” (patient, medication, route, dose, time)
- Prioritize patient safety, including fall, ulcer, and isolation precautions
- Maintain a positive attitude to foster a healthy work and patient environment
- Answer patient call lights promptly for effective triage and care
- Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to monitor and respond to patient condition changes
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination within the healthcare team
- Care for patients with mild to severe brain injuries (e.g., stroke, trauma, surgery)
- Identify and respond promptly to neurological changes and seizure activity
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years relevant nursing experience
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Illinois state RN License in good standing
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Night shift; 12-hour shifts
- English language proficiency (speak, read, write)
Med Ninjas Job ID #5082. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
