Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Washington Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Telemetry nursing experience
• Ability to care for adult Med/Surg and PCU/Telemetry patients and flex between departments as needed
• Demonstrated knowledge of patient safety practices, infection prevention, isolation procedures, and standard precautions
• Ability to safely operate and troubleshoot equipment used in PCU, Telemetry, and Med/Surg settings
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and nursing documentation skills
• Flexibility to support department needs and work the assigned 12-hour night schedule

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and PCU/Telemetry patients
• Assess patient and significant-other learning needs and provide education using appropriate teaching methods
• Promote patient safety through preventative measures, including proper use of side rails, restraints, and medical equipment
• Implement infection control and isolation procedures while consistently following standard precautions
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses
• Review and complete physician orders in a timely manner and complete required order checks during the assigned shift
• Report critical laboratory values promptly and communicate effectively with physicians and other departments
• Provide thorough, accurate change-of-shift reports to promote continuity of care
• Maintain and restock emergency carts, patient rooms, and general clinical supplies
• Identify equipment concerns, use appropriate troubleshooting procedures, and follow repair or escalation protocols
• Flex between departments and perform other Registered Nurse duties as assigned
