This role involves working on a 60-bed Medical Surgical Unit that caters to a diverse patient population, including post-surgical cases, various medical conditions, traumas, strokes, and inpatient hospice care. We emphasize quality care and positive patient outcomes, focusing on collaboration and evidence-based practices.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Clinical Expertise: Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on comprehensive assessments, ensuring they align with patient needs and goals.
• Knowledge: Pursue lifelong learning through opportunities for certification, advanced education, and ongoing literature review.
• Leadership: Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge, serving as a clinical resource, and acting as a professional role model within the team.
• Communication: Practice effective communication through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary collaboration using best practices such as SBAR.
• Productivity: Exhibit strong time management skills and assist colleagues to enhance overall team performance.
• Perform other duties consistent with the role, adhering to unit-specific objectives and competencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a straight Medical Surgical setting.
• Experience in a Level II or I Trauma center is required.
• Travel experience is preferred.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• An active Michigan nursing license must be maintained throughout employment.
