Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse (RN) position located in a large hospital setting. The role involves providing comprehensive care to adult trauma, medical, and surgical patients across multiple units. The RN will work 12-hour night shifts, with duties including assessments, documentation using electronic health record systems, and collaborating within a busy trauma and surgical environment. The assignment begins on 10/12/2026 and concludes on 01/11/2027.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday. Shift rotations may vary between days and nights depending on unit needs.
  • Required Qualifications: Active ND or Compact RN license, minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (level 1, 200+ beds), BLS certification (American Heart Association). Experience working in a high-volume medical-surgical or trauma environment, proficiency with electronic documentation systems (EPIC), and ability to float across units within the facility. Must hold or be eligible for license submission.
  • Preferred Qualifications: EPIC experience, prior trauma or orthopedic trauma care experience, familiarity with TJC Hip Fracture Program, and experience in a level 1 trauma center.
  • Additional Information: The unit has a 32-bed census with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights. Orientation includes training in adult trauma, medical, and surgical patient care. Scrubs are navy blue. The facility requires badge-in/out procedures and emphasizes schedule balancing, with opportunities for staff to trade shifts to accommodate time-off requests. Floating across medical-surgical units and other units such as South University may be required.
