Med/Surg Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Danville, Illinois

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Scheduling: Every other weekend and every other holiday; no call or standby requirement

• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, clinical judgment, and communication skills
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced acute-care environment
• Willingness to float to a medical-surgical unit and occasionally assist with general overflow patients in the ICU
• Ability to meet facility onboarding and orientation requirements, including a negative drug screen

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Complete nursing assessments, develop and update care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
• Monitor cardiac rhythms using SpaceLabs telemetry equipment and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure, diabetes, complex medical conditions, and end-of-life needs
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, patient care staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Support patient education, discharge planning, and continuity of care
• Float as needed to support patient care across designated units and assist with general ICU overflow
• Participate in unit orientation and maintain a high standard of safety, professionalism, and patient advocacy
