Med Ninjas is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Des Moines, Iowa.
Job Summary (List Format):
- Position: Medical Surgical (MS) Registered Nurse (Travel Assignment)
- Interview Process: Quick interviews via phone call/text (405 area code)
- Local Candidate Policy: No candidates allowed within 50 miles of the facility
- Employee Separation Policy:
- Past UPH FTE/PRN employees (including float pool) cannot work travel contracts at any UPH market for 12 months after last employment
- Previous UPH travelers are exempt from this policy
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 1-2 of the 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- Unit Details:
- 30-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Patient population: Post-op hip/knee, mastectomies, abdominal surgeries
- Drips used: PCA, Heparin
- Emotional support canine present on unit
- Float Requirement: Must float to Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
- Orientation Date: 10/12 (firm start)
- Schedule & Overtime:
- 36-40 hours/week (OT billable after 40)
- 48 hours/week (OT billable after 48)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 24 months recent MS/Med Surg experience in hospital/medical center
- Post-op surgical experience highly preferred
- Experience with hip/knee, mastectomies, abdominal surgeries highly preferred
- PCA & Heparin experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Submission Requirements:
- Resume with 24 months relevant experience
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry skills checklist
- Active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license
- Driver’s license
- AHA/ARC BLS certification
- Professional reference from supervisor/manager within past 24 months (preferred)
- Certification Requirements: BLS (American Heart Association required)
- State License Requirements: Iowa (compact allowed)
Med Ninjas Job ID #15177. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
