Job Summary
Medical Surgical Nurse (MS) Night Shift Location: Not Specified. This position involves providing patient care on a Medical Surgical Floor within an acute care setting. The role requires delivering high-quality nursing services to patients with conditions such as heart failure, diabetic care, end-of-life needs, and other medical diagnoses, including telemetry monitoring.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: Active Illinois nursing license (or confirmation of application initiation), BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience in a medical-surgical setting.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities: Manage patient care for a unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:4-5 during days and 1:5 at night, including handling telemetry, troubleshooting vents, and collaborating with charge nurses.
- Additional Unit Notes: The unit includes beds for single and double occupancy, with floating to auxiliary units when needed; the team monitors telemedicine systems with ongoing tele monitor oversight.
- Shift & Protocols: Self-scheduling is permitted with work every other weekend and holiday, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. No call or standby duties are required.
- Orientation: Typically two to three shifts of unit-specific orientation.
- Charting System: EPIC.
