Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical / Surgical

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role practices independently within a clinical setting, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of patient care and the nursing process. The nurse will provide both routine and complex care, while managing and delegating responsibilities to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to deliver care for assigned patients.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families at an appropriate level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols, monitoring for side effects and efficacy.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and offer education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying potential issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license in New Mexico or a Compact state.
• Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts, with working hours from 7 PM to 7 AM. A commitment to working weekends (2 to 4 shifts per month) and floating to all Medical/Surgical departments is expected.

Nurse to Patient Ratio

The expected patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5-6.

Technology

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system utilized for documentation is EPIC.

Dress Code

Grey scrubs are required attire for this position.
