Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 5, 2026
- End Date: January 3, 2027
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
- Healthcare Setting: 36-bed medical-surgical/orthopedic unit
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 with CNA support; may be 1:4 for primary care based on staffing
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Float Expectations: May float to the ED or ICU to care for medical holds only
- Call Requirements: No on-call or call-back requirement
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates must reside outside the 40-mile local radius
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending or temporary licenses are not accepted
- Current AHA BLS certification
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Recent EPIC charting experience
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to practice confidently and independently
- Adaptable, resilient, hardworking, and patient-focused approach
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and orthopedic patients
- Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with providers, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes
- Prioritize care effectively while managing a varied patient assignment
- Float to designated areas as needed to care for medical holds
- Support a respectful, team-oriented environment and respond effectively to changes in patient status
