Key Responsibilities

• Full patient assessment, prioritization & documentation
• IV starts and medication administration
• Wound care and wound-vac/negative-pressure dressing care
• Chest tube, drain, Foley and PEG/NGT management
• Trach care and suctioning
• Central line care and blood draws
• Ostomy/colostomy care
• Surgical-site care and dressing changes
• Oxygen therapy and respiratory support
• PCA pump management
• Restraint and fall-prevention management
• Pressure-ulcer prevention/management
• Telemetry monitoring and q4h strip interpretation/confirmation
• Recognize patient deterioration and escalate appropriately

• EMR: Cerner preferred
• IV Pumps: Plum 360
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs
• CNA: approximately 1:6
• Charge Nurse
• Phlebotomy
• IV/VAT Team
• Hospitalist
• Telemetry Tech

• HUC/Receptionist

  
  Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Hours: 36/48 hours per week
• Weekend: Every other weekend OR 4 weekend days/month
• On Call: None
• Holidays: 1 major + 1 minor holiday per facility policy
• RTO: Must be approved; holiday RTO is not contractually guaranteed

• Orientation: 24 hours classroom + 24 hours on-unit for new/return travelers gone 1+ year
  
  ✅ Requirements

   

• Minimum 18 months MedSurg experience
• At least 1 year trauma/surgical experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• BLS required
• NIHSS required
• Epic or Cerner experience required
• Cerner is preferred
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and documentation skills
• Must be comfortable interpreting/confirming telemetry strips q4h
• Staff must be gone 6 months before returning as a traveler
