Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Staff Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care to patients and their families. The focus is on independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions as described in the standards and competencies specific to the assigned service area. The RN's scope of practice may encompass the care of patients at various life stages, including neonates, infants, children, young adults, adults, and older adults.

The RN executes the Standards of Nursing Practice, which include:

• Assessment
• Nursing diagnosis
• Outcome identification
• Planning
• Implementation
• Evaluation

The RN is responsible for developing and revising the patient care plan, coordinating care among disciplines, and delegating activities to other healthcare providers as appropriate. Active participation in shared accountability and decision-making for nursing practices is encouraged. Through personal leadership qualities and skills, the RN defines, implements, and enhances practice standards and the care environment while promoting exceptional patient care.

Note: Variations in duties may occur based on the assigned care unit(s), and specific clinical skills required of the RN may differ accordingly. Unit-based skill lists outline expectations beyond the standard RN requirements.

Schedule and Requirements

This position offers a 32-hour guarantee, with a requirement for the RN to work every other weekend. On-call duties may also be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Med Surg experience - Required
• Trauma Level I experience - Required
• Epic experience - Required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) - Required
• Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations - Required
• Current nursing license in Minnesota or a temporary license with an application for a permanent license submitted

Clinicians must provide work history, a skills checklist pertinent to the specialty, and two supervisory references with employment dates listed as part of their documentation.
