Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or a valid compact-state RN license
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical hospital nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-care skills
• Experience managing intravenous medication infusions, including heparin, insulin, amiodarone, or Cardizem, preferred

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout their hospital stay
• Assess patient conditions, develop and update nursing care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies safely and accurately
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate clinical concerns
• Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Support safe transitions of care and provide patient and family education
• Float to other appropriate units as needed while practicing within established competencies and scope of practice
