Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring at least one year of recent experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Work on a 36-bed Med/Surg unit treating oncology, general surgery, and medical patients
• Typical RN patient ratio is 1:5, with 1:6 possible on a rotating basis
• 12-hour night shift from 7pm to 7:30am, 36 hours per week
• Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units
• Unit supported by receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and centralized telemetry monitoring
• EPIC EMR required
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 12 months of recent core experience in Med/Surg required
• Experience with chest tubes, post-op dressings, and ortho/trauma care required
• EKG experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Candidate's middle name or initial needed for consideration
• Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN needed for consideration
• Minimum one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level II NICU, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, and Primary Stroke Center
• At least one orientation shift provided to learn unit flow
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis as posted by the department
• Time off requests must be approved through the manager
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs; teal for CNAs
• Free parking available
• Candidates with at least 1 year of experience will be considered; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• No radius restrictions; local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
