Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in providing exceptional patient care in an acute medical-surgical unit. This position involves night shifts, with a commitment of 36 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population with conditions such as CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, altered mental status, and sepsis.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6:1 and ensure a safe and efficient care environment.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including in-house hospitalists available 24/7.
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and document care in the EMR system (Meditech).
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Fulfill weekend and holiday responsibilities as required.
• Occasionally float to other units as necessary to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospital medical-surgical units.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) required; ACLS certification is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with patients and team members.

Additional Information

• Unit type: Acute Care with 36 beds.
• Shift Length: 12 hours.
• Mandatory weekend requirements: Every other weekend.
• Floor specific orientation will be provided over three shifts.
• Scrub color: White tops and hunter green pants.
• Consultation with the PICC team may be needed; no IV team on-site.
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7.
