Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Oncology Registered Nurse for a night shift position on the Oncology unit. This role is essential in delivering high-quality patient care to oncology patients in a medical-surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional nursing care to oncology patients, including administering treatments and managing acute oncology symptoms.
• Monitor patient vitals and report significant changes in condition.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and care protocols.
• Participate in patient admissions, discharges, and daily care routines.
• Support end-of-life care and manage symptoms related to advanced oncology conditions.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse, with at least 1 year of experience in oncology care.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Current certifications in BLS (AHA) and NIHSS are required; ONS certification is preferred for those involved in chemotherapy administration.
• Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (7 PM - 7 AM), including every other weekend and rotating holidays.
• Valid nursing license within 75 miles of the facility’s location.

Unit Information:

• The Oncology unit consists of 29 beds, providing care for a variety of complex oncology diagnoses such as thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and hematology overflow.
• Staff-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5, occasionally requiring 1:6.
• Utilizes Meditech as the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Nurse aides are available to assist in patient care, with approximately 3 aides scheduled per day.
• Floor-specific orientation will be provided for 3 days to ensure a smooth transition into the unit.
