Assignment Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with MedSurg/Tele experience for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in Med/Tele and is capable of handling a variety of patient types, including orthopedic and trauma cases, post-op surgeries, and patients with acute or chronic diseases.

Assignment Details

  • Unit: 35 beds
  • Patient Census: 35
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6, LPN: 1:4-6, CNA: 2-3 per shift
  • Required Experience: 2 years Med/Tele RN experience
  • Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes
  • Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, 7A-7P or 7P-7A
  • Weekend Rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12
  • Holiday Expectations: Work one shift of each major holiday
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Estimated Gross Weekly Pay Package: $2100 (negotiable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for orthopedic and trauma patients, as well as post-op surgeries
  • Manage patients with co-morbidities common to med-surg population such as diabetes and hypertension
  • Execute trach care, chest tube management, and wound care
  • Perform IV insertion and management, including central lines
  • Conduct cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
  • Plan for patient discharge and provide education

Qualifications

Required:

  • BLS certification
  • Pass an EKG competency exam
  • Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills
  • Skills in trach care, chest tube management, and IV insertion

Preferred:

  • ACLS certification
  • Medical-surgical certification or Nephrology nursing certification
