Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) for a facility located in a healthcare environment. This position involves providing nursing care to adult and adolescent patients with a variety of diagnoses, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and surgical patients undergoing procedures such as orthopedic, general, spinal, and urological surgeries. The role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care on a unit with a 38-bed capacity.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, beginning at 6:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. No self-scheduling; blocked scheduling can be accommodated at times.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (American Heart Association) certification. Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical (MS) experience. Experience with EPIC documentation. Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:6 during days and nights, with proficiency in bedside shift report and patient rounding. Experience with titrating drips including Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix. Ability to read telemetry strips and collaborate with cardiac techs, with telemetry monitors by a cardiac technician available 24/7.
- Preferred Qualifications: Ability to take 1:6 patient ratios, experience with shift work (days and nights), and comfort with first-time travel assignments. Well-versed in handling high patient turnover and quick discharges/re-admissions on the unit.
- Additional Information: The unit may require floating to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) for Medical Surgical (MS) assignments. Nursing staff must demonstrate teamwork, proactive patient rounding, and help with call lights and CNA support. Orientation includes 1.5 shifts. The unit utilizes EPIC for charting. RN staff are not required to read telemetry strips but should call cardiac techs as needed. The dress code is navy blue scrubs.
