Voca Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Battle Creek, Michigan.

1. Required qualifications

  • Valid Michigan RN license. A pending license may be accepted if you provide an expected completion date.
  • AHA BLS certification. Pending certification may be accepted if you confirm willingness to obtain it.
  • Minimum one year of RN experience; two years of Med/Surg experience preferred.
  • NIHSS is listed among the required certifications.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Previous charge experience preferred.
  • Travel experience is not required.

2. Unit and clinical responsibilities

The C5 unit is described as a 37-bed Medical/Surgical and Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients.

Common patient populations and procedures include:

  • Gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries.
  • Oncology and general medical diagnoses.
  • Orthopedic fractures and total joint replacements.
  • Neurological disorders and post-neurosurgical care.
  • Vascular disorders and surgeries.
  • Cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
  • Renal failure, dialysis, and diabetes management.
  • Telemetry, wound care, drains, chest tubes, and central lines.

The listed staffing ratios are approximately 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights. Ratios may rise to eight patients when an RN is paired with an LPN for additional support.
