Compensation & Schedule Details

  • Hours & Shift: 36 guaranteed hours per week (12-hour Days, 0630–1900). 48-hour contracts available upon request (OT goes into effect after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts). Bi-weekly orientation starting November 2, 2026.
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks.
  • Weekend & Holiday Requirements: 3 weekends out of every 6-week schedule; every other holiday.
  • Distance & Attendance Rules: Strict 40-mile radius rule (no local candidates). Maximum of 3 call-ins permitted before termination.

Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules

  • Cross-Campus Floating: First to float within skillset. May float to Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles away) or Deaconess Henderson (KY) campus (11 miles away) with a 2-hour notice.
  • Unit Scope & Ratios: 32-bed Surgical Oncology unit. Day shift ratios are 1:4–5 (Night ratios 1:5–7). Patient population includes complex Med-Surg and oncology (GI, GU, general), post-Whipple care (24–28 hours post-op), and neutropenic precautions. Charting via Epic (requires check-off class). Teaching facility—may require precepting of students and new hires. Navy blue scrubs required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of strong Med/Surg experience, at least 1 prior travel assignment, and Level II trauma experience required.
  • Clinical Skills: PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural management, PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, and management of stable drips (heparin, lasix, protonix).
  • Licensure: Active compact RN license in hand.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS and NIHSS required at submittal.
