Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida or a valid compact-state license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Experience managing insulin drips
• Recent EPIC electronic health record experience; completion of required EPIC training may be necessary
• Ability to float to other units within the medical-surgical division as needed

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and diabetes patients
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes
• Safely manage insulin drips and monitor patients for changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments while following clinical protocols and patient safety standards
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing support staff, patients, and families to coordinate care
• Maintain safe staffing practices, with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5–6
• Float to other medical-surgical units when operational needs require
• Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday coverage
