Medical-Surgical Travel RN Job Details

• Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week

• Weekend Commitment: Weekends as needed, with a minimum of every other weekend

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Washington or a compact RN license held in hand at submission
• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience using electronic health records; Epic experience is preferred
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical judgment skills
• Flexibility to float between units and support weekend or holiday coverage when scheduled

Med-Surg Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and rehabilitation patients
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor patient conditions, and promptly communicate changes in status
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established standards and provider orders
• Manage peripheral lines, oxygen therapy, nasal cannula, oxygen equipment, and non-invasive airway support
• Apply isolation precautions and follow appropriate personal protective equipment practices
• Recognize patient deterioration and appropriately activate rapid response or code team support
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, support staff, patients, and families to coordinate individualized care plans
• Accurately document nursing care and clinical outcomes in the Epic electronic health record
• Promote patient safety, comfort, mobility, education, and continuity of care throughout the travel assignment
