Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in providing care for adults to geriatrics, particularly in a medical/surgical environment. This position involves working with patients diagnosed with conditions such as diabetes, post-operative recovery, wound care, and bariatric surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a Medical Surgical setting.
• Monitor patient health and administer medications effectively.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Utilize electronic health record systems, specifically Epic, for documentation and patient management.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• BLS certification required.
• Proficiency in the use of Epic and Pyxis systems.
• Willingness to float within the facility as needed according to the scope of practice.

Work Schedule

This position requires a night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5-6. The unit accommodates 33 beds, with an average daily census of 28 patients.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements

• Every other weekend rotation unless otherwise specified.
• Must be available to work major holidays as scheduled.

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day.

Additional Information

Compliance with all necessary credentials and competencies is required to start on time. Late compliance could postpone the start date by up to two weeks due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule. The maximum time off (RTO) allowed is 7 days, with specific blackout dates in place.
