Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Medical Surgical setting. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care and demonstrate expertise in managing a diverse patient population ranging from adults to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients with various diagnoses, including diabetes, surgical recovery (post-op), wounds, and bariatric conditions.
• Monitor patient vitals and manage Remote Telemetry as required.
• Utilize electronic health record systems (Epic) to document patient information accurately.
• Administer medications and treatments via Pyxis and other unit systems.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams using SBAR for effective communication.
• Participate in patient education and support to promote health and recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are encouraged to apply.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Strong clinical skills in medical surgical nursing practices.

Work Schedule

The position requires a commitment to night shifts, specifically 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00. The nurse will be expected to work every other weekend and to float when necessary within the facility and scope of practice.

Census and Patient Ratio

The nurse will care for an average of 5-6 patients at a time, within a unit that includes 33 beds and an average daily census of 28 patients.

Compliance and Orientation

Full compliance is required to ensure a timely start. Orientation duration will vary based on the contract length.

Holidays and Time Off

The nurse is expected to work during major holidays as outlined, with specific guidelines based on the number of holidays within the assignment period. Maximum requested time off is 7 days, with blackout dates applying as specified.
