This position involves providing post-operative surgical care to general surgery patients on a unit with a capacity of 32 beds, primarily serving young adult through late adult patients. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a supportive environment, with responsibilities including patient care, collaboration with surgical residents, and adherence to unit protocols.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Licensure verification, successful completion of a proctored rhythm test, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, and at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for patients with diagnoses such as bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, or morbid obesity.
  • Additional Information: Floating between units or facilities within a 35-mile radius may be required based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity levels. Candidates should be prepared for variable staffing arrangements, including responsibilities involving registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, and nurse interns.
