Registered Nurse (RN) - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in Mother-Baby, Couplet Care, and Post Partum services. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in labor and delivery, along with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a supportive environment.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including labor and delivery.
• Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum) or couplet care is essential.
• Ability to manage both labor patients and mother-baby couplets.
• Familiarity with Antepartum care and procedures, including sterile exams and patient triage.
• Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal heart rate patterns.
• Proficiency in IV therapy, including administering blood products and starting peripheral IVs.
• Knowledge of medications used in labor and delivery, including Pitocin and magnesium sulfate.
• Experience in handling various delivery scenarios, including C-sections and high-risk deliveries.
• Competence in providing neonatal care, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments.
• Familiarity with postpartum care procedures for both vaginal and C-section deliveries.
• Ability to provide breastfeeding support and newborn discharge education.

Certifications

• AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate Certification
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), AWHONN Advanced Certification

Job Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet care 1:3 (average).
• Unit will accommodate 13-week contracts with the potential for 36 hours per week.
• Shift requirements: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Weekend shifts are required; 8 shifts per contract.
• Orientation includes 24 hours of unit-specific training plus hospital orientation.

Unit Information

The unit consists of 15 rooms with 17 beds, accommodating a low-risk LDRP population. The team includes experienced nurses who can circulate in the operating room for C-sections and recover patients in the PACU. Special procedures may include cervical cerclage and tubal ligation. The unit employs electronic systems including Pyxis and EPIC for efficient patient management.
