Provides clinical supervision to employees assigned to the various nursing units, either personally or through subordinates. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the Nursing Department’s activities. Operates consistent with the philosophy of nursing in compliance with established policies, procedures, standards, and regulations. Assures quality resident care through teaching and supervision of staff on respective shifts. Communicates with the Director of Nursing regarding identified and potential unit problems. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to resolve problems effectively. Contacts the Director of Nursing on off hours for only those critical issues requiring resolution. Makes sound administrative decisions in the absence of the Director of Nursing and the Administrator within identified scope of responsibility.
