Description:
This position involves working in a nursing home setting attached to a hospital.
The unit has a total of 70 beds, with a majority being private rooms.
Staffing ratios are 1 RN to 20 patients, 1 LPN to 20 patients, and 1 CNA to 8 patients.
Common diagnoses include dementia, frail elderly, and rehabilitation patients.
Responsibilities include charting, performing assessments, charge nurse duties, administering medications, and executing clinical skills such as IVs, catheterizations, and ostomy care.
Candidates must possess experience with elderly patients and have the ability to manage IVs and titratable drips.
There are no telemonitoring responsibilities in this unit, and RNs are not required to read monitor strips.
RNs will not be required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation.
There is direct supervision from a charge nurse or house supervisor available.
Physician availability is ensured after hours.
The interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social work, activities, dietary, and housekeeping.
Respiratory therapy is present on-site 24/7.
A pharmacy with a medication dispensing system is available on-site.
Staff will operate on a block schedule with varying nurse and aide coverage.
Every other weekend work is expected, and RNs should be available for at least half of the holidays during their assignment.
There is no on-call or standby requirement for this role.
Floating to other units may be required as needed.
Dress code allows for any solid color scrubs that are clean and professional.
Unit-specific orientation will be provided based on assessed skills.
All clinicians must clock in and out while on the facility premises.
