The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan. The RN will possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's care requirements. The RN provides direct and indirect skilled nursing care for assigned residents. The RN follows defined policies and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The RN maintains a collaborative relationship with other nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary staff. The RN should maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education and in-service programs. The RN must have the ability to provide care to geriatric residents. The RN collects data relevant to the residents' physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis. The RN communicates findings to the Supervisor and other members of the Interdisciplinary Team. The RN contributes to the creation of a developmentally age-appropriate and culturally relevant plan of resident care. The plan should reflect nursing diagnoses and interventions to achieve desired resident outcomes, involving the resident/family in the process. The RN recommends revisions to the plan of care after evaluating resident outcomes. The RN indicates the need for referrals to ensure all aspects of the resident's care have been addressed. The RN collaborates with the resident/family and members of the Interdisciplinary Team within the scope of nursing practice. The RN assures customer satisfaction while promoting a healthy, safe environment. The RN must maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice. The RN participates in the mentoring and orientation of staff. The RN considers factors related to safety, cost, and impact in planning and delivering care. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN provides leadership in the professional practice setting. The RN demonstrates knowledge and competency in all required tasks. Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
