Core Responsibilities & Workflow

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: You will drive the discharge planning process from day one and are required to present succinct patient status updates in weekly Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
  • Pace: Expect a highly structured environment focused on continuous patient rehabilitation, family education, and long-term quality outcomes rather than rapid acute-care turnover.

Requirements & Certifications

  • Experience: Strong background in LTAC, Intensive Care Step-Down, or high-acuity Med-Surg.
  • Licensure: Active Iowa (IA) or multi-state Compact RN license.
  • Required Certifications: AHA BLS and AHA ACLS

CRITICAL Clinical Scope & Facility Culture

  • Acuity & Admissions: This is a Select Medical LTAC facility specializing in extended-stay, chronically critically ill patients (frequently involving ventilator weaning, trachs, and complex wounds). A major strict compliance metric here is that you must complete comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
  • Safety Protocols: The facility heavily enforces their "10 Foot Circle of Safety." You will be continually evaluated on proactive safety awareness regarding Safe Patient Handling, infectious diseases, materials handling, and fall prevention.
  • Charge & Delegation Expectations: Travelers are expected to supervise, train, and confidently delegate to ancillary nursing staff (CNAs/Techs). You must also be prepared to assume Charge Nurse responsibilities after your orientation period.
