Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey
  • At least 2 years of bedside clinical nursing experience
  • Long-term acute care, rehabilitation, critical care, or comparable acute-care experience preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift when applicable to the assigned unit
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients with complex medical needs

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Complete nursing assessments within the required timeframe and use findings to develop individualized plans of care.
  • Provide direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor patient progress, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate pertinent information to the care team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary conferences and contribute timely, accurate documentation in the medical record.
  • Support patient rehabilitation goals through education, encouragement, and coordinated nursing interventions.
  • Initiate discharge planning at admission and provide patient and family education in preparation for transition to the next level of care.
  • Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing assistants, practical nurses, and orienting staff.
  • Promote patient and staff safety by following infection prevention, safe handling, fall prevention, and workplace safety practices.
  • Prioritize assignments, manage time effectively, and help maintain an organized and efficient unit.
  • Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families to support continuity of care and positive outcomes.
  • Assume charge responsibilities after orientation when requested and participate in ongoing professional development.
