Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical nursing experience
• Previous intensive care unit (ICU) experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care to medically complex patients in a long-term acute care environment

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within the required timeframe and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor patient conditions, identify changes in status, and communicate pertinent information promptly to the interdisciplinary care team.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care updates accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in rehabilitation-focused care and support patients in achieving individualized clinical and functional goals.
• Initiate discharge planning upon admission and provide patient and family education in preparation for transition of care.
• Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing support personnel.
• Promote a safe patient care environment by following infection prevention, safe handling, fall prevention, and workplace safety practices.
• Prioritize assignments, manage time effectively, and support efficient LTAC unit operations.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and other healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes and continuity of care.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation, as requested.
