Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Tennessee
• At least 2 years of recent bedside clinical nursing experience
• Recent ICU or critical care nursing experience highly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care for patients with complex and extended acute-care needs
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, time management, and delegation skills

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Support patient participation in rehabilitation-focused care and promote progress toward individualized goals.
• Identify patient and family education needs and provide clear teaching related to diagnoses, treatment, safety, and discharge planning.
• Initiate discharge planning from admission and coordinate care with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Communicate changes in patient condition and other pertinent information to providers, charge nurses, and members of the care team.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care updates accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while delegating appropriately.
• Promote patient and staff safety through safe handling practices, infection prevention, hazard awareness, and adherence to nursing policies.
• Prioritize assignments, manage time effectively, maintain unit readiness, and contribute to a collaborative care environment.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation when requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
