Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Michigan
  • Minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care to medically complex patients
  • Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition, and promptly communicate pertinent information to providers and the nursing team.
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately and timely in the medical record.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and contribute to ongoing care planning and re-evaluation.
  • Support rehabilitation goals through patient- and family-centered education, encouragement, and discharge planning beginning at admission.
  • Provide direction, training, supervision, and appropriate delegation to LPNs, nursing assistants, and orienting staff.
  • Promote patient and workplace safety by following safe handling practices, infection prevention standards, and facility policies.
  • Prioritize assignments, organize care efficiently, and use supplies and equipment responsibly.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation when requested and contribute positively to unit teamwork.
  • Pursue professional development through continuing education, competency validation, and self-directed learning.
