Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Administrative Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active Vermont (VT) State RN License required upon acceptance (Compact/eNLC or VT single-state).
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 5+ years of clinical nursing experience in maternal-child health (L&D, Postpartum, and Nursery).
- Mandatory Certifications Required:
- Active BLS / BCLS
- Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Active PALS
- Active AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced EFM certification)
- Floating Mandate: Must be flexible and willing to float to other inpatient units and manage overflow patients from the Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Submission Limit: Maximum 3 submissions per job opening.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Hospital in Newport, VT is seeking an experienced, multi-skilled Labor & Delivery / Maternal-Child Health Registered Nurse for a 13-week night assignment. Operating within a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital on the Canadian border, the RN must deliver comprehensive obstetrical, postpartum, nursery, and cross-departmental inpatient nursing care.
- Intrapartum & Delivery Care: Manage intrapartum monitoring, labor, delivery, recovery, and emergency obstetrical interventions per AWHONN guidelines.
- Postpartum & Newborn Care: Provide couplet care, postpartum recovery monitoring, and stabilization of newborns in the baby unit using NRP and PALS protocols.
- Cross-Unit Floating & Progressive Care: Flex across units as needed to manage patient census, including managing intermediate-acuity medical overflow from the Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Documentation & EHR: Complete patient charting, medication administration, and procedural documentation using Cerner.
