    Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday nights); holidays rotate with permanent staff

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct nursing care to Labor and Delivery patients in a 13-bed L&D unit with 2 OR suites and 2 triage beds, averaging 170–190 births per month
    • Attend deliveries independently, circulate in cesarean sections, assist with catching and transitioning newborns
    • Titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin per physician orders and unit protocols
    • Care for high-risk patient populations including preeclampsia, diabetic, and complex psychosocial presentations at 32 weeks gestation and above
    • Function in Postpartum as needed, providing routine mother-baby couplet care and attending low-risk deliveries; must demonstrate newborn transition competencies
    • Follow AWHONN staffing guidelines with ratios of 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for postpartum couplets
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience; no first-time travelers
    • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
    • Proficiency with EFM monitoring; unit uses Centricity Perinatal system
    • Ability to independently attend deliveries and circulate in cesarean sections
    • Comfort assisting with newborn delivery, catching, and transitioning
    • Ability to titrate drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) and manage high-risk obstetric patients
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification preferred
    • Experience with EPIC electronic health records
    • Familiarity with block scheduling and adaptability to established unit workflows, policies, and procedures
