Laboratory Medical Technologist- Morristown VT

Location                             :  Morristown VT 05661

Duration                            : 13 weeks Contract

Pay Range                         : $40- $45/hr

Shift                                     : Night Shift

 

Job Summary 

The Laboratory Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory testing and analysis, reporting accurate and timely results, maintaining quality control standards, and ensuring compliance with applicable laboratory procedures, regulations, and safety requirements. The role involves collaboration with nursing and medical staff to correlate laboratory findings with clinical information and may include receptionist and phlebotomy responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Performs assigned laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently according to established procedures, protocols, and regulatory requirements.

·         Reviews, verifies, and reports laboratory test results in a timely manner.

·         Maintains appropriate quality control procedures and ensures laboratory testing meets established quality standards.

·         Performs quality assurance activities and identifies, documents, and reports testing discrepancies or issues.

·         Operates, monitors, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment according to manufacturer instructions and established schedules.

·         Troubleshoots equipment and testing issues and escalates problems when necessary.

·         Correlates laboratory results with clinical findings through chart review and consultation with nursing and medical staff.

·         Maintains accurate laboratory records, documentation, and test logs.

·         Performs specimen collection, processing, labeling, handling, and preparation as required.

·         Performs phlebotomy duties and ensures specimens are collected and transported according to established standards.

·         Performs receptionist/front-desk tasks, including patient registration, answering phones, scheduling, and other administrative duties as assigned.

·         Follows infection control, safety, and laboratory procedures at all times.

·         Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.

·         Ensures compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies governing the provision of healthcare.

·         Participates in continuing education, competency assessments, and professional development activities.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

·         Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.

·         Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

·         Knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control practices, specimen handling, and laboratory safety standards.

·         Phlebotomy experience preferred.

·         Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately perform and document laboratory testing.

·         Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work independently and collaboratively with laboratory, nursing, and medical staff.

·         Current certification/licensure as required by applicable State regulations and facility requirements.

·         Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
