Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite | 13–26 Week Contracts Available

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks gestation and greater, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeks
  • Manage double labor assignments in a high-volume, fast-paced birthing unit averaging approximately 20 births and 30–40 admissions per 24-hour period
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care
  • Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures
  • Conduct obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration for outpatient procedures
  • Float as needed to a high-risk Special Maternity Care OB unit; work every other weekend with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; 3 years strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a high-volume setting with more than 300 births per month
  • Proficiency in circulating to the OR, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
  • Current BLS (BCLS), AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP certifications required
  • Familiarity with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR documentation systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience circulating in an OR setting within a Labor and Delivery environment
  • Background working in a large, high-acuity birthing unit with high daily admission and birth volumes
  • Comfort managing double labor assignments as a routine part of daily workflow
