Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Nurse Shift Manager)

Key Responsibilities
- Serve in a Nurse Shift Manager (NSM) capacity, providing charge-level leadership and resource support across the unit including L&D, postpartum, recovery, antepartum, C-section, and women's health areas
- Care for a diverse patient population including labor and delivery, postpartum couplets, high-risk OB, antepartum, and women's health patients; facility transfers out for major maternal or fetal complications requiring advanced cardiac or surgical intervention
- Perform and interpret advanced fetal monitoring in accordance with AWHONN standards; utilize Cerner EMR, fetal links, and HUGS infant security system
- Float across all areas of the unit — L&D, postpartum, C-section, and women's health — as census and staffing needs require
- Participate in evidence-based perinatal safety initiatives including Pitocin checklists, maternal mental health screenings, pre-eclampsia protocols, and 100% chart audits
- Be available for standby/on-call as needed; if called in from standby, expected response time is within 30 minutes
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- Strong charge or supervisory nursing experience in Labor & Delivery
- Ability to independently start IVs
- Willingness and ability to work across all unit areas (L&D, postpartum, C-section, women's health)
- Availability to work required weekend shifts (approximately 4 per scheduling period) and one major and one minor holiday
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Cerner EMR charting
- Background in high-risk OB care including antepartum management and perinatal safety initiatives
- Familiarity with baby-friendly hospital practices including immediate skin-to-skin and early breastfeeding initiation
- Prior exposure to evidence-based OB practices such as reduction of low-risk primary C-sections and elective delivery guidelines
