Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our healthcare team in Ithaca, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers, laboring patients, and postpartum mothers, as well as immediate care for newborns within a dynamic hospital setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with deliveries, administering medications, and educating patients and their families throughout the childbirth process. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced L&D RN to contribute to a supportive and patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor fetal heart rates, uterine contractions, and maternal vital signs, interpreting data to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum procedures.
  • Provide immediate care and assessment for newborns following delivery.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation.
  • Educate patients and families on childbirth, pain management, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic health records.
  • Respond effectively to obstetric emergencies and provide critical care interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in a Labor & Delivery unit.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
