Job Summary
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery in Machias, Maine. This is a 13-week contract position focused on providing comprehensive, individualized nursing care to patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal periods, as well as post-operative gynecology patients.
Working collaboratively under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role emphasizes clinical competency, sound nursing judgment, patient education, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, individualized nursing care to patients on the Labor & Delivery unit, encompassing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-op gynecology care.
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate all assigned patient care, ensuring age-appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrate clinical competency and sound nursing judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery.
- Educate patients and families on relevant health information and care plans.
- Adhere strictly to all Standards of Nursing Practice and hospital policies, including those pertaining to confidentiality, patient rights, and professional conduct.
- Manage unit-specific supplies and equipment effectively.
- Promote a collaborative and positive teamwork environment with physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital departments.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the quality of patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of acute care Registered Nurse experience.
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Current STABLE certification.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination as mandated by state regulations.
