Must-Have:
Must have at least 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience.
Preferred 3 years of experience in this setting.
Candidates with only postpartum experience will not be accepted.
Description:
The unit provides care for patients during labor and delivery.
Nurses are responsible for delivering newborns and providing postpartum care.
We handle 70-80 births a month, with some patients being transferred to a higher level of care.
Nurses must be comfortable with neonatal resuscitation at delivery.
Nurse ratios are 1:2 during labor and 1:1 at delivery.
Postpartum couplet care is 1:4.
Charge nurses are available on every shift and typically do not take assignments.
There are no nurse aids or surgical techs on the unit.
There is an OB in-house 24/7, but anesthesia is on-call and has a 20-minute response time.
Respiratory therapy is present at every delivery.
The facility uses fetal monitoring systems and requires nurses to take ACLS.
Weekend shifts and holiday rotations apply.
Floating to other facilities is required as needed.
Charting is performed using the Cerner system.
