Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BCLS and NRPS required Must-Have: - Post-Partum experience required - Level II Nursery experience required - IV Start skills required - Triage skills preferred Description: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts available. Average daily census includes 3 labors, 3-4 post-partum, and 1-2 level 2 babies. Total of 17 rooms/beds in the unit. Experience should include administration of blood and blood products, antepartum care, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure management, and APGAR scores. Responsibilities include assisting with circumcision and assessing the site post-op, supporting vaginal deliveries, and implementing baby-friendly protocols. Provide breastfeeding support and lactation education to parents. Conduct car seat education and manage cesarean sections. Collect cord samples and perform cord care. Engage in couplet care and discharge teaching for parents. Administer epidural anesthesia and manage Foley catheter insertion. Perform forceps and vacuum extraction, and care for fundus, lochia, and perineum. Assess and manage hemorrhage and shock. Implement ID and security banding, and maintain infant identification. Deliver insulin drips and observe isolation precautions and personal protective equipment. Ensure patient comfort through IV conscious sedation and manage labor and delivery processes. Provide care for level I nursery and engage with magnesium sulfate therapy. Conduct metabolic screening and manage multiple births. Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and manage newborn assessment. Respond to concerns like newborn hypoglycemia and provide phototherapy. Use nitrous oxide for pain management as needed. Administer Pitocin, monitor postpartum hemorrhage, manage pregnancy-induced hypertension, and use prostaglandins. Ensure proper thermoregulation and utilize radiant warmers. Employ external fetal heart monitoring techniques and internal fetal monitoring when required. Place and calibrate intrauterine pressure catheters. Manage patient-controlled analgesia as necessary. Administer vaccinations and facilitate vaginal deliveries. Provide wound assessment and care. Candidates may be required to float within the facility or to a nearby affiliate hospital.
