Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 1 year in Labor and Delivery License: Current State License as a Registered Nurse required Certifications: BLS upon hire; NRP within 6 months of hire; Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of hire; BFHI Lactation Education required or within 6 months of hire Must-Have: Graduate of School of Nursing BSN/BA preferred Comfortable stabilizing babies Experience with all phases of care: Triage, Antepartum, Labor, Postpartum, Neonatal care Interpersonal skills necessary for instructing and comforting patients/families Analytical skills to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans Description: The Registered Nurse renders collaborative nursing care to a caseload of patients for an assigned shift in accordance with the medical staff practitioner’s treatment plan and nursing standards of care. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient through the implementation of the nursing process. The RN demonstrates the ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in the coordination and delivery of care. Responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources is assumed. Positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution are demonstrated. Sensitivity to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees is required. Experience in caring for antenatal, triage, labor, and delivery patients is essential. Routine newborn stabilization and stabilization of critical newborns awaiting transport must be performed. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan of patients and families is necessary. The RN must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s lifespan. The role includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
