Availability to work weekends and holidays.
Description:
This position is for a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery.
The nursing unit provides comprehensive maternity services and includes a Level II NICU.
Evidence-based staffing ratios in labor aim to maintain a 1:1 ratio, while postpartum aims for 1:3 with CNA support.
There are 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, and 30 postpartum beds in the unit.
The unit is equipped with 3 operating rooms and 2 PACU areas.
Triage is staffed with 3 skilled RNs per shift.
There are 2 surgical techs for day shifts and 2 for night shifts.
Postpartum has 3 CNAs per shift to assist RNs with care.
A variety of delivering providers and CRNAs are available 24/7 for support.
All required certifications are mandatory for the role.
Candidates will be expected to manage both routine and high-risk deliveries.
This includes the administration of medications, monitoring fetal heart rates, and providing assistance during deliveries.
Candidates must be skilled in vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum care.
There will be an expectation to support new mothers with breastfeeding and discharge teaching.
Overall, the role requires a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Flexibility to float to different shifts or units as needed during assignments is required.
Adherence to unit protocols and best practices is essential.
